Overview of PRHC

The Pine Ridge Hiking Club is one of nine member clubs that make up the Ganaraska Hiking Trail Association.  Together the nine clubs of the GHTA manage and maintain a 500 km trail extending from Port Hope on the shores of Lake Ontario to the Bruce Trail and Georgian Bay.  The PRHC manages a 63 km section of the GHTA trail.

Except for summer months, PRHC hikes are scheduled 2 – 3 times per week.  Members may join in hikes ranging from 5 – 16 km through the beautiful rolling hills of Northumberland County.  There is a selection of over 150 routes for hike leaders to chose from. There is no better way than hiking to explore the villages, small towns, forests and countryside that lie between Rice Lake and Lake Ontario.

The PRHC Club also has a vibrant social side where many lasting friendships are made. Annually photographs taken by club members on hikes completed locally or internationally are displayed at a public space in the Through the Hikers Lens exhibition. The AGM held in December features a pot luck dinner that is always a hit. In March members gather for an evening of Hike Talks where presentations of hikes from around the world are made by club members and enjoy another amazing pot luck dinner.  Occasionally  scheduled hikes finish up at a local pub or coffee shop.

As an introduction to our club, you may join us for a hike or two before purchasing a $25.00 membership. Select a hike from our Hiking Schedule that is rated Easy if you're unsure of your fitness level.  Hike leader's contact info is posted so you can ask questions.  You will be welcomed.
