Photo Essay - Killarney Provincial Park

Killarney Provincial Park, located near French River, is a great wilderness experience for hikers, campers, canoeists and anyone that loves the outdoors.  Killarney Mountain Lodge, located just outside the park, was home for 25 hikers for 5 days in September.  We experienced the beauty of the area that inspired the Group of Seven - the quartzite La Cloche Mountains, the lakes, and the rugged terrain.  Trails like La Cloche Silhouette, Cranberry Bog and the Crack offered some challenging hiking for the group.  One day included a boat ride, a fish fry lunch on the rocks, followed by a 13 km. hike out of the park.  Challenging hikes – good company - great food – stunning scenery – an unforgettable week and on the last day we had a rare view of mother bear and her three cubs!    Barry Walker.
